Memory Cards

What card to use

Faster cards make a difference in x100, especially when shooting RAW (UHS-I supported).

One of the most recommended fast cards is the "SanDisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I 45mb/sec".

Based on [1] the writing speed with this cards is :

Single shot mode 1 RAW frame 2.7s
Single shot mode 3 RAW frames 5.9s
Bust mode (8 RAW frames) 15.8

Formatting for best performance

It seems to be best to format the memory card whenever one has finished uploading images to a Mac or PC and needs to delete the card content.

Deleting the images on the card via one's computer has caused start-up issues on the camera (speed) for many.

The current best practice workflow is:

  1. Upload images to computer via USB to camera or by inserting card into computer or card reader.
  2. Verify you have the images on your computer then
  3. Format card in camera and performance should remain good.
